  • This page lists the specific configurations for which the server vendor has submitted certification test results to VMware, including BIOS version.

    These are not the only supported or recommended configurations. Best practice is generally to use the latest BIOS version available for the server, even if it is newer than listed here. For further details about BIOS, server product configurations, and best practices, please contact the server vendor.
  • Modern CPUs are capable of supporting SMP-FT. To check the capability of a specific CPU, visit https://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php?deviceCategory=cpu. vSphere 8.0 certified servers can support SMP-FT. Refer to VMware Docs for Fault Tolerance requirements, limits, and licensing.
  • VMware supports the Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processor series, codenamed “Cascade Lake-SP” (1S, 2S and 4S). Please note the following patch requirements. vSphere 6.7U1: Must apply patch ESXi670-201811001 (ESXi 6.7 EP 5) or later 6.7 patch or update. vSphere 6.5U2: Must apply patch ESXi650-201811001 (ESXi 6.5 EP 11) or later 6.5 patch or update. Note: ESXi 6.5 P03 or ESXi 6.5 EP 12 not recommended for large memory configurations.
